Karen is a registered Marriage and Family Therapist and a Certified Canadian Counsellor. She works with individuals couples and families in a collaborative, respectful, and supportive way, helping them navigate challenging life circumstances and relational issues. For her, it is a privilege to join clients on their wellness journey. Karen uses a systemic perspective which considers the multidimensional aspects of a person’s life (e.g., relationships, family, work, etc.) and how these relate to or are influenced by the problem. She also honors clients’ resiliency and strengths and incorporates these into the process. 

Karen has decades of counselling experience with particular interests in relational and familial dynamics, communication and conflict resolution, intimacy and betrayal, and sexual functioning. Karen has a wealth of experience working in the field of child and adolescent mental health and with their families, as well as with Military and RCMP. She has advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Methods, Sex Therapy, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, and trauma-based approaches (e.g., EMDR and CBCT). Further, she adheres to exceptional professional standards and ethical practices as set out by the professional associations she belongs to (i.e., Canadian Association for Couple and Family Therapy, American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association).
